Welcome to The Syracuse Rocket Club

The Syracuse Rocket Club promotes and encourages safe hobby rocketry in the Central New York area

Next Club Meeting: Monday June 3, 2019 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Walt's Hobby. At this meeting we will prepare for upcoming school launches and the June club launch.

Next Sport Launch: Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Weigand's Field. The launch theme is staging. Bring your 2 or 3 stage models to fly and display. The contests for this month's launch are 2-stage Spot Landing and B Streamer duration.

The May launch was a great start to the 2019 flying season, with 24 flyers logging 81 successful flights on a calm sunny day. Dennis Friend lept into the lead in our annual competition for the most flights and motors used with 25 motors burned in 10 flights. Dave Grimes leads the pack in total impulse at 486.4 N-sec for the month of May. Tom Butler leads the contest standings after taking 1st place in the A-Cluster Duration contest and 2nd place in the B-Streamer Duration contest.

2019 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. NAR Sections around the country will commemorate this historic event with special launches on July 20, 2019. We hope to have many scale Saturn V rockets, and other scale models from the US space program to launch at our July 20 launch. If you are interested in building a Saturn V rocket to fly, see the April and October issues of our newsletter Whats Up for some suggestions on where to find a kit. You should be able to order one of the new Estes Saturn V kits from Walt's Hobby.

The Syracuse Rocket Club welcomes families and anyone interested in the hobby to attend our launches. We have rockets available for children to fly and take home. We will teach new flyers how to prep and fly their rockets. Join us at our next monthly club meeting or launch.

Check this web site the evening before the launch to confirm launch status.

Save time at the launch by filling out your flight cards at home. Click here to download the SRC flight card.

Join us at our next launch. Find out how much fun hobby rocketry can be for the whole family.
